| Final Foley Session Done-2007-02-27 | |
Special thanks to the folks that came out on Saturday for our final foley session. We recorded the misc background sounds from several scenes (crowd voices) and some zombie sounds to lay in on a couple of scenes. Damon Crump and David Feagan immediately retreated to the studio to lay these new audio tracks in place pushing us ever closer to being 100% done. We're sooooooo close now.

| Some good news, some progress-2006-07-13 | |
We have 100% edited picture! Does that mean we're done? Unfortunately not. There is more to do, it's in the hands of our highly capable audio team. Adding sound effects, music, etc. With luck, in a couple more months we'll have a 100% complete and ready to watch movie. Having seen the fully edited picture, I'm honestly amazed how well it came out. There were a few scenes that on location I was afraid weren't coming out well but on screen, man they really came together. All hail the mighty Damon Crump :). The good news is it's officially final-We will not have to have any more reshoots. We got everything we need. A huge load off of a producer's mind. Thanks to everyone who has been so patient through this process, I promise, once it's all done it'll be worth it!
| Postproduction progress, box art winner-2006-05-01 | |
Some general updates for the undead seeking an update. The picture part of the edit is almost complete (final scene being edited now) and audio postproduction (foley and music) is underway on the first 1/3 of the movie. Damon tells me that our runtime is looking perfect at 90 minutes and from the early edits I've seen, I can honestly say it looks even better than I ever hoped for. Damon's directing and editing skill are to be commended strongly! It was definately worth the wait for the level of quality. The box art contest winner has been selected and notified. Damon needed some changes made to the box prior to a public posting. As soon as these changes are made, we'll make a public annoucement along with the winning entry.

| DVD Box Art Contest Announced-2005-11-09 | |
I'm pleased to announce the Risen Box Art Contest! For details on rules and how to enter, check out this thread in the official forums. First prize is a signed DVD and script before the DVD is generally available! Since we are still in postproduction, I can't put a hard date on when precisely that will be but you will get it before it is available on store shelves. Quick update, it looks like we will continue to be in postproduction until March 2006 at the earliest and the release will be some point after that. Quality, not speed!

| Belated Wrap Party a Success!-2005-05-29 | |
A month after our final shot was in the can, we finally had our wrap party. Why the Delay? Production ran long and everyone was way overdue to get back to X,Y, and Z they needed to get back to. Therefore we were unable to have it the day after we shot the grocery store scene. We held the wrap party at Lake Brazos Steakhosue on the Brazos Riverfront. It was a beautiful location, unfortunately there was some type of mis-communication... we were supposed to have the place past midnight but were shown the door at 10pm when the resturant normally closes. Rather unfortunate. It was really great to see everyone again, almost brought a tear to my eye with nostalgia. Making a movie is like stepping into an alternate universe. Your normal family/friends fade into the background and your cast and crew become your family. You see them every day, share bathrooms, have tiffs with them and of course love them. When Christian shouted, "That's a wrap on RISEN!" we were all ready for it to be over and get back to our normal family/friends/work. At the same time the break in time between the final scene and the wrap party gave us all a chance to reset and love each other like family again. Ok, that's enough of a wordy gush. After being kicked out of the Lake Brazos Steakhouse, we caravaned back to the Mills House where we had spent so much time and watched Richard Watson's behind the scenes documentry (Work in Progress edition, not the mini-preview documentry on this site). Richard blew everyone's doors off. The documentry will definately be worth watching on the DVD. After Richard's documentry was over we watched the first half of Joe Barbarisi's "Dragging My Leg Across Texas" self-made narrative of his experiences flying from NY to Texas to become the beloved Zombie Joe. For those not familiar with Joe, when you see Risen he will be one of the most memorable undead. I still get shivers when I remember how good Joe looked struggling through the door. Unfortunately we were unable to screen the whole thing as part of the AV equipment had to go home. We then sat up all night until about 6am getting sloshed. Andrea Van Epps (Coked Up Zombie) brought a camcorder and caught some footage that will likely end up on an "E! True Hollywood Story" one day.

| Risen Wraps Production-2005-04-21 | |
Frame By Frame and Red Trac Productions, in association with Jackalope Entertainment, today announced the completion of filming for their newest picture entitled Risen. The film’s synopsis features a couple in the fight to save their young daughter in a city of the undead. The tagline reads ‘When the dead have risen, some things are more important than survival.’ Risen was filmed at various locations in Waco, Bellmead, Woodway, Lacy Lakeview and Hewitt Texas, including the Bellmead Civic Center, Bonner's Bellmead Speedway, IGA Grocery, Fast Time Gas Station, and other locations. Casting for Risen consists of GiGi Erneta, Joseph Thackery, Jason Harper, and Steven Lee. Besides a talented cast, the film has several other noticeable advantages to other horror films. The film is shot in HD on the Sony CineAlta HD 900 and will be color treated, scored, audio sweetened, and mastered in High Definition (1080/48i) in its post-production phase. “We’ll have a trailer out by the end of May or early April that will knock your socks off.” commented Director Damon Crump “We are the #3 most anticipated zombie movie over at Moviesonline.ca's list of top 10 zombie movies,” comments Jessica Hall, press relations of Risen. “We're behind Land Of The Dead and Resident Evil 3 and ahead of Day of the Dead 2: Contagium, both of the Return of the Living Dead sequels, and more. Risen is turning out to be huge already!” “Every scene turned out so much bigger and better than I ever hoped for. Simple drive up scenes turned into huge paths of destruction with overturned cars on fire, scores of zombies, and more.” noted writer/producer David Talbot. Risen is set to be released in either September or October of 2005. All rights are currently available as Risen is in talks with multiple distributors. Risen is a product of Frame By Frame and Red Trac Productions, in association with Jackalope Entertainment. Film production staff includes producer David Talbot, director Damon Crump, director of photography John Franklin, and music directors Jamie Matthews and Joel Adamson. Risen will continue post-production editing in Waco, Texas.

| Coked up zombie leaked-2005-03-11 | |
Someone apparently got a cell phone camera on the set and posted a god awful picture of the "Coked Up Zombie" to the fangoria web forums yesterday. We'll figure out who did it and deal with them appropriately, I'm sure their heart was in the right place but this is unacceptable. In the meantime, enjoy the proper "Coked Up Zombie" picture. Backstory: This isn't a zombie on drugs, its a girl whom Sam believes is a drugged up girl but in reality is a zombie; thus the name "Coked Up Zombie".

| Director and DP Announced-2005-01-15 | |
Damon Crump of Jackalope Entertainment will be directing Risen! Damon has worked in various capacities on Hollywood blockbusters, indie films, and has over 18 years of experience in Commercials. We're excited to have him on board! His imdb entry unfortunately doesn't list even a fraction of the projects he's worked on in the past. John Franklin has been selected as the Director Of Photography. John has worked on a number of indie projects and has done 2nd unit work on a few larger budget pictures. Damon and John really bring a high level of talent, professionalism, and experience that will make Risen a great movie!
| Key Crew Positions Filled-2004-12-23 | |
At this point we've filled the key crew positions. We're working to get all of the contracts signed to make things official, but in short, we've got a director who has substantial commerical experience (national spots) and a couple of shorts. This will be his first feature but he's got a ton of experience in the industry. We've signed up a great practical SFX company out of California that has done some great tests that I just can't wait to post. I hope to be able to start making annoucements with names and pictures as soon as we get the contracts signed in Jan. Also, most of the key roles are still uncast. We'll be holding an open call in Jan, or you can email a headshot to the "Join Us" link above.
